Scarlet Letter Extra Credit

The 11th grade English classes are presently reading the Scarlet Letter. In an effort to bring the story to life, the AP Psychology classes will partner with the English classes in a small social experiment. Your job during this experiment is to compile a case study on 3-4 students. You will be able to interact with the students; talk to them and ask them questions. While you are interviewing the students you will be trying to make them feel very insecure, embarrassed and generally just feel like a bad person. You want the student to feel as ostracized as Hester Prynne.
Specifics:
1. Describe the subjects background. Age, sex, appearance, grade, GPA, family structure, housing type, social circumstances, discipline record etc.
2. Describe any behaviors the subject presents. For this experiment you will want to focus only on negative behaviors and you will want to use PSYCHOLOGICAL terminology as much as possible.
3. Analyze the background and behavior and then suggest strategies to improve the subject's quality of life.
Field Trip Details:
You will report to PC8 at the beginning of second block on November 23rd. We will go to the English class as a group. You will then do your case studies. You will repeat this process during blocks 3 and 4. At the end of 4th block we will discuss your findings.
